Gunmen from the radical Palestinian Islamist group "Jund Ansar Allah" walk near a mosque after the Friday prayers in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah on August 14, 2009. Around 15 Palestinians were hurt in the area in an exchange of gunfire between the radical Islamists and Hamas police, emergency services workers said. The clash took place when the police confronted dissidents from Jund Ansar Allah (Soldiers of the Partisans of God), who had gathered at a mosque in the southern city on the border with Egypt. Earlier in the day, a group of Palestinians had announced the formation of an "Islamist Emirate" in Gaza, defying the authority of Hamas, which has ruled the Palestinian enclave for the past two years, witnesses said.
